As some of you may have seen on the news - on Tuesday the country held its national election which take place about every 4 or 5 years. The day was declared a public holiday and we (the expat community) were advised to stay at home in case any violence broke out. There were a few isolated incidents but at this stage everything has been fairly peaceful.
Having said that - today as counting continues and the vote is close I have decided to stay close to the school in case there is any trouble as we have two compounds (hot spots for violence) between the school and our house and I would rather be on the same side as the kids if there is any trouble.
